The Occultist videogame, developed by Pentakill Studios and sponsored by the Valladolid City Council, has been chosen to represent Spain in the second edition of the European EuroPlay Video Games Contest.
The Occultist will face fifteen video games created in Belarus, Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine next Thursday, August 26, in a live exhibition through the social network Twitch, which will allow the public vote for their favorite creation.
None of the video games classified for the final of the EuroPlay Video Games Contest have yet been released. The contest will be held during the Gamescom gala and can be followed live on YouTube, Twitch and Twitter. Spain will seek to revalidate its title, after winning the first edition of the meeting, held last year, thanks to the Melbits POD proposal.
The Occultist participates in the European festival after winning a national competition organized by the DEV (Spanish Game Developers Association) which was attended by 18 candidates.
Valladolid’s creation is a psychological horror video game, conceived as the first title in a series, developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The protagonist is Alan, an occult expert whose father has disappeared without a trace. The story takes place on an island, which has been abandoned for 60 years after a ritual that turned it into a devastated land, inhabited by spirits and ghosts.
